ADA Renovation
Description
Currently, the only accessible location in the building is the east lobby. This is addressed by lowering the lobby elevation to where the lower level is accessible via a ramp. Then, a limited use limited access (LULA) elevator provides access to the auditorium above. Together, these two changes bring a substantial portion of the building up to code.
From the exterior, a gentle ramp from the east brings people to the new lobby elevation while providing a grassy amphitheater for program use. On the inside, the walls are brick and extend to the foundation, so new floor joists are all that are required to lower the elevation.
In addition to these moves, new restrooms (already at the new lobby elevation) complete the accessibility upgrades to the eastern half of the building.
